Provider: Renaissance At Work
Location: Hereford Museum Resource and Learning Centre
Prices: Free
This course is new for 2010, and combines both monitoring and control of the museum environment in a practical, one day session, which was previously covered on two separate day courses.
You will learn what is meant by “the museum environment” and look at monitoring methods and interpretation of data. Relative Humidity, temperature and light will be explained and their effects on objects will be studied. You will have an opportunity to use various types of monitoring equipment, to look at actual data produced and learn what to do about it.
This course also covers the control options that exist in museums, galleries and stores. So if you are considering whether, for example, you need dehumidifiers or heating, blinds or UV film, and indeed if you can afford these options, then this course will give you some answers.
Who should attend?
All who want to know more about the environment, but particularly those who want to begin to monitor and better control their exhibition and storage spaces. This will be particularly helpful for those undertaking museum accreditation.
