Creating an Oral History Archive

Aims: Devising a strategy for recording opinion and stories from your local community to complement and contrast with your collections can be a difficult process. This course will help you to consider the issues and will guide you through the stages of making a recording such as:


• Devising an action plan to contact interviewees.

• Considering the dos and don'ts for good oral history questions.

• Developing a good interviewing technique.

• Hands on interviewing practice; capturing audio on solid state recorders.

• Hands on practice at editing your audio.

• Tips on acquiring equipment and software to suit your budget and needs.

• Data protection, consent forms and licensing.




Who should attend? Anyone involved in creating a recording or archive of local opinion and experience.
